Hanging Stockings if You Have No Mantle. Don’t worry, even if you’re like us and don’t have a mantle, you can still hang stockings!

This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy here.

We have never had an actual mantle.

Now mind you we did grow up with a fireplace and we even now exclusively heat our home with wood. But they’ve always been the stand-alone woodstoves. Never the kind in-set into the wall with a mantle.

I’m sure there are many readers here who are in the same boat!

So where do you hang your stockings if you don’t have this all-desired mantle?

In this post I have compiled a few ideas for you! Most of them are not my own, but I have linked the sources where I found them.

Where to Hang Stockings if You Have No Mantle

Hanging Stockings if You Have No Mantle

Just hang on the wall

This first idea is from yours truly. This is what we have done for several years. We’ve never had a real mantle and I’ve gotten around that by simply hanging our stockings on the wall near our fireplace. So it still feels like the right place for them, its all cozy and mantle-like right by the woodstove. We have always loved having them here!

Hang off the edge of a shelf

This is probably the closest to actually hanging them on a mantle. You can use the same sort of hangers on the edge of a shelf in your home.

Like this lineup of adorable stockings from My Rustic Farmhouse.

Hang on some rustic tree branches

Picture on the left from Antique Farmhouse. I love this idea of using tree branches to hang your stockings! It looks so rustic!

Picture in the middle from Brandi Raae. The greenery she added in with the branch and the stockings really ties it all in and makes it look perfect!

Picture on the right from WinifredJ. Some beautiful colorful stockings hanging on a simple wooden branch.

Hang on a rustic coat rack

It’s always good to have extra coat racks around the house. Firstly because if you have kids you know how many little coats and sweaters pile up all over the place. Secondly because you can do cool decorative things like this!

Picture on the left from Halfway Holistic she has her stockings hung on a white rustic coat rack.

Picture on the right from Woodshop Diaries. I love this rustic coat rack with both the stocking and the hat on it!

Hang on the staircase

We only have a single story home but I love how people can decorate their staircases! Maybe someday we will have one too!

Picture on the left from Sew A Fine Seam where she hangs her stockings of her railing that is already decorated with some lovely evergreen!

The picture on the right is from BrownellnCo! They actually have those cool farmhouse minimalist looking stocking hangers for sale in their etsy shop.

Hang on the end of your bedframe

Lisa over at Farmhouse On Boone (one of my favorite bloggers of all time!!) had this idea of hanging stocking on the end of your farmhouse bedframe!

Hang on a decorative ladder

Picture on the left from Sarah Jane Christy blog. This looks so lovely with that antique ladder and minimalist knit stockings!

And the picture on the right from Apartment Therapy. I originally found this picture here on pinterest!

Hang on the dresser

This is a really easy place to put your stockings that still looks really cute! It might not work as well if you don’t have dresser knobs for your specific dresser. But I love this idea that I found HERE on pinterest!

Hang on a window

What a lovely thing to see hanging inside your windows! I love this idea!

Picture on the left from Antique Farmhouse. I love this teal window frame the stocking are hanging in!

Picture on the right from Becky’s Farmhouse. This is the cutest idea!! I love all the evergreen mixed in and those tiny stockings hanging in the window! See the rest of her Christmas farmhouse tour HERE.

And blessings!

Pin it for later!
