I’m about to share with you my go-to meal (yes, you heard me right, meal!) for my first trimester of pregnancy.

It’s a good thing this is a healthy eggnog recipe and full of raw milk and protein from home-raised eggs!

What’s a lady to do? This was the only thing that sounded good.

Even though it wasn’t Christmas time…I feel that something this delicious shouldn’t be abstained from for the whole rest of the year! That would just be cruel.

Watch me make this eggnog on YouTube!

https://youtu.be/BW4UssQRRms

Eggnog Recipe

  • 2 cups of raw milk
  • 2 cups of raw cream
  • 8 eggs
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup or honey
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 generous tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves

Whip it up in a blender or mixer until combined. Serve chilled or warm.

Either way, it will blow your mind.

Listen to this on your favorite podcast app!

But that’s not important at the moment.

Make sure though that you don’t use storeboughten (yes that’s a real word) raw eggs in this – only organic free-range raw eggs. I use the eggs that either we raised ourselves (so I know exactly what the chickens are eating), or eggs that we get from another family member. Here is a good quote on salmonella risks for eggs:

“The salmonella risk is increased when hens are raised in unsanitary conditions, which is extremely rare for small organic farms where the chickens are raised in clean, spacious coops, have access to sunlight, and forage for their natural food. Conventional eggs, making up the vast majority of eggs in typical grocery stores, have an increased risk for salmonella, which is why I advise against eating conventional eggs raw. One study by the British government found that 23 percent of farms with caged hens tested positive for salmonella, compared to just over 4 percent in organic flocks and 6.5 percent in free-range flocks.” – Dr. Mercola

So, while you most definitely won’t find me making this raw eggnog recipe with store-bought eggs, I feel quite safe using our homegrown, farm fresh eggs from our happy, healthy chickens.

Enjoy the recipe! You should even be a rebel like me and drink this all year round…not just at Christmas time.

Live on the edge baby!

Blessings.

Pin it for later!
