Jump to RecipeNow that I’m a mama I don’t get as much time for baths.
And honestly I didn’t appreciate the fabulousness of a good bath before the kids came around.
But man, it sure is a treat when I can get one.
If I can make the baby wait until the toddler goes down for a nap then they’ll sleep at the same time and I can take a nice relaxing bath all by myself.
And ya know what really spruces up a plain old bath to a fabulous bath?
Bath salts.
And this is a good place to start when you’re wanting to remove toxins from your home. Plus whipping this up takes like 3 seconds.
Ok maybe that’s exaggerating.
But really, it takes less than 5 minutes.
It’s faster than changing a diaper.
Faster than frying bacon.
Definitely faster than doing laundry.
So throw aside all your other to-do’s and make these bath salts instead.
I insist.
Benefits of bath salts
Bath salts are the perfect thing to add to a bath to relax sore muscles, help with aches, skin irritation, improve circulation, relieve headaches, heal acne or eczema, improve sleep, and to detox your body. When I was a kid my mom used to put them in my bath to help with intense growing pains in my legs.

Nourishing Bath Salts Recipe
- 1 cup of epsom salts
- 1/2 cup of pink Himalayan salt
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- about 20 drops of essential oils
Step one:
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix it up. Done.
I told ya it was fast.
I will say that it is easier to mix if the coconut oil is melted or at least soft.
Step two:
Store it in an airtight container. I like to store mine in a pint mason jar. But ya know me, I use mason jars for everything.
How to use bath salts
Draw a nice hot bath and scoop out 1/4 cup of bath salts and pour them in the bath. They dissolve in the hot water and all the lovely benefits can soak into your skin as you relax!
Essential oil blends
Adding in essential oils to your bath salts can have some wonderful topical and aromatic benefits. You can add whatever oils you’d like, but here are some different blend ideas.
Clear your mind
- 6 drops peppermint
- 5 drops wild orange
- 4 drops rosemary
Stress reliever
- 10 drops lavender
- 5 drops cedarwood

Clear sinuses
- 10 drops peppermint
- 10 drops eucalyptus

Soothe sore muscles

Benefits of epsom salts
Epsom salts boost magnesium levels, which is always good because most people are deficient in it. It can relieve headaches, eliminate toxins, and reduce pain and inflammation.
Benefits of pink Himalayan salt
Pink himalayan salt increases hydration, balances pH levels, detoxes the skin, relieves muscle cramping, lowers blood pressure. It contains calcium, potassium, magnesium, and other minerals not found in regular salt.
Benefits of baking soda
Baking soda can help with fatigue and muscle pain. It can help your skin clear up, relieve sunburns, as well as itchiness and skin irritation.
Benefits of coconut oil
Coconut oil can reduce inflammation, can help treat acne, is very moisturizing, contains vitamin E, and it is also antimicrobial.
You should make some now!
So you can see that this is super easy to make and also very nourishing for your skin! I always have a jar of this on hand in the shower.
Just in case the kids nap at the same time.
Or Luke is home and wants to give me some alone time.
And blessings!
Pin it for later!
