I’m a very down-to-earth minimalist farm girl. Most of us homesteader types are.
So it makes sense that instead of diamonds and pearls, most of us have our mind focused on seasonal produce, farm supplies, natural remedies, and the latest electric fence solar charger.
Hence this top 10 gifts for a farm lovin’ mama.
Top 7 Christmas Gifts For A Homesteadin’ Mama
1. Cookbooks
All these cookbooks are full of from-scratch, whole food recipes that are easy and don’t take too much time to prepare. Us ladies love cookbooks and homesteading books! Trust me.
- Nourishing Traditions (seriously like the best cookbook EVER! Everyone needs this in their kitchen.)
- From Scratch
- Seasons At The Farm
- The Grassfed Gourmet
- Family Table
- Homestead Kitchen
2. New Farmhouse Kitchen Supplies
I personally always love getting kitchen stuff – especially vintage kinds of things that aren’t in just any kitchen – like big cast iron dutch ovens, and pickle crocks – I’m old fashioned like that.
- One of my husband’s handmade end grain cutting boards (I have several of these in my own kitchen, and I can tell you from personal experience that they are awesome!).
- A dutch oven like this one, or this one.
- A nice french press.
- Cute tea kettle.
- Mason jars – I don’t know about you, but the closer I get to preserving our family’s entire food stash for the year, I always seem to run out of jars nearing the end of canning season.
- Reusable canning lids (oh how I dream of the day!).
3. Handmade Bath & Beauty Products
What kind of a person would I be if I didn’t suggest that you purchase some of my handmade bath and beauty products? Everything from rustic soaps to lotions, balms to bath salts. A hard workin’ mama needs some pampering too!
4. Muck Boots
I love muck boots.
No, they aren’t the most stylish thing in the world….picture me tromping around the chicken yard in pajamas, muck boots, and a giant pregnant belly….but they are super comfortable, sturdy, and keep your feet clean of chicken poop!
That’s always a plus.
5. Essential Oils
As I said, we farm ladies are very down to earth.
And what a better way to honor that than with essential oils that can be used on the animals, around the house in cleaning products and my homemade soaps, diffused in the air to purify and freshen, in foods and beverages, and even rubbed on as perfume. I can’t imagine our life without essential oils – they’re a big part of how life functions ’round these parts!
My favorite oil brand is doTerra – or if I’m ordering ’em in bulk I like getting them from Bulk Apothecary.
6. Good Books
It’s good to have uplifting and encouraging books to read. People don’t read real books enough anymore…there is too much technology around. Books have a way of helping your brain clear all that clutter. So if the person you’re buying a gift for is a reader, here’s a few books that I’ve found particularly encouraging, interesting and helpful:
- Welcome To The Farm
- The Untold Story Of Milk
- Set-Apart Femininity
- Raising Maidens Of Virtue
- Lasting Love
- Animal Vegetable Miracle
7. An Awesome Egg Basket
I tend to use just whatever container is closest when I go collect eggs, including the front of my shirt sometimes (which doesn’t always work out so well), there isn’t a designated egg basket quite yet. And even if there was, I’m pretty sure this one would be cooler!
Merry Christmas to all you lovely folks out there! I hope your day is blessed!
